[solved]open all urls in tabs in a single konqueror sessions

Hello,

When I've installed kde-3.5.0 on my gentooo system, there was a nice feature : every urls ( folder or web site ) was open in a new tab in a single konqueror session. Since I've installed kde-3.5.3, I've lost this feature.

How can I configure KDE to get back this feature ?

Thanks for your help !

RE: open all urls in tabs in a single konqueror sessions

In Konqueror, go to Settings->Configure Konqueror->Web Behaviour and check the option Open links in new tab instead of new window

It works for the links which are in the page but it doesn't work when I click on any folder of my desktop. Previously, i had a single konqueror window for all my file management opération; each folder opening in a new tab... it was usefull.

Try Konqueror > Settings > Configure Konqueror > Web Behavior > Tabbed Browsing group's Advanced Options > check Open as tab in existing Konqueror when URL is called externally.

Hope that helps.

In Breezy, this used to open tabs in an external browser, *in the background*. After I've upgraded to Dapper, it will bring the konqueror window to the front each time. Is there any way to revert to the older behaviour?

(Use case: When I receive an email or read a feed in akregator, which contains multiple links, I click all of them while reading the email/post, and only after I read it entirely do I go to look at the (now already fetched) pages. In Breezy and Hoary / KDE 3.4 this worked perfectly; In Dapper / KDE 3.5, konqui comes up on every midclick and has to be minimized. Just as it was with IE ....)

That's an option in Konqueror, hidden somewhere in the settings. Go to Settings->Configure Konqueror->Web Behaviour and click the button for more options about tab pages. There you should find an option to open them in the background.

I already did that, but it does not solve the problem -- it only changes behaviour for _internal_ links. Whenever I middle-click a link in an email or akkgregator post, konqui will jump to the foreground.

What I'm looking for is a way to make it _not_ jump forward when it gets a request to open a new window _externally_ (from another program).

Thanks in advance,
ori.
