I get a strange output from my webcam (stv680 driver based Aiptek Pencam) in Kopete. The whole image consist only of horizontal lines. Somehow the whole image is scrambled (see the attached file for the image). I can see some motion, if I move the camera, so the device is working. Also, with xawtv I can get the images without any problem.
Any idea what can cause this? Is it a bug in Kopete?
(I am using 0.12.0)
I posted this very same problem a while back for the same -ish camera, I use a cool i cam using the stv680 module.
Its annoying because I know this webcam works under linux, I use it with 'ekiga' (formerly gnomemeeting) with a friend using netmeeting, works with no problems but would be a lot easier to use with kopete.
Just bumping this up.. I have Kopete version 0.11.3 with a Veo Stingray cam that works in other applications so it cannot be the driver. I see the same image that has been posted above.
Same problem for me, webcam works fine with xawtv, but Kopete only sees green static. I have a D-Link cam which was a pain to install but it's working fine.
I also used another cam, that uses the spca5xx drivers, but has very poor image quality. Kopete could see that cam, I don't know what's the issue.
It's a problem of requesting the right resolution to stv680!!
kopete defaults to QVGA (320x240) resolution but the request is not handled correctly way down to stv680 kernel module. Therefore stv680 responds with maximum resolution, which is CIF(352x288 )
As a workaround I patch stv680 module to respond in QVGA mode in case it does not recognize the requested resolution. That does the trick for me and webcam is working in kopete.

I'm having a similar problem, but with a different web camera. I'm using a logitech quickcam pro 4000. It works via ekiga, so I know it isn't the driver in general. The driver is the pwc driver. Is there any way of adjusting the resolution that kopete wants without having to patch the driver?
