I'd love to get some assistance in finding out where my sound went. I have been reading the forum threads about this, but I haven't found the "magic key" to my particular situation.
I have KDE and Fedora Core 3. I'm not sure what the sound card is, but it's onboard a Dell workhorse that has never had a problem. I don't have anything terribly out of the ordinary -- I use my system for internet, email and web programming.
CORRECTION -- I do have sound!!! But still a problem....The reason I could not hear it is the volume was down too low. Before you laugh, I had the volume WAY up, but not all the way. I can just BARELY hear it when the volume on the speakers is up ALL the way. I have travelled around the control area in KDE, and found a couple of volume control meters that are set way to the top. I can't find them now to tell you what they are. But I'd really like to get the volume up where I can hear it, if anyone has any other suggestions.
