screens error

hi all just installed slackware due to my old HD falling over, now i´ve got a few live disks to set up before but never managed to get a proper OS working. anyways thats not really important. i just finished the install, rebooted then tried "startx" but it didn´t work...said something bout not having any screens or anything i can´t show you the exact error because i´m on a different computer..but after this i thought that i needed to configure it..so i tried to run xconf (which is the config program on every other Version of linux i´ve used) but to no avail...

so basicly my problem is

KDE is saying that it can´t load due to the fact that it has "no screens"..any one help? the location (or command) of the config program (if there is one) would be greatly valued
thanks

RE: screens error

Probably won't be of much help since I am kind of new to Linux/BSD and I don't know anything about slackware, but my experience with outher GNU/Linux and gui BSD's are just pretty much plug and play. Have you tried the install again or maybe an easier install OS, unless slackware is a must. You may also wan to check slackware forum site. [KDE]

possible fix

I'm new to linux as well

I had the same problem on suse 10

I fixed it by changing my run level to 3 and running sax2

init 3

sax2

I hope that helps
