HELP - KDE file transfer

I am setting up PCBSD on one hard drive and have Kububtu on another hard drive. I am running KDE on both systems. Now it would make sense that it should be a fairly simple thing to get my KDE setup, files and KDE programs from one hard drive and OS to another. Even Window$ has a mechanism to handle this very important and critical task between itself, never used a MAc but they probably do too. So if they do KDE must have one too. Of course being an average user, which means I know where the power button is and I can follow well written directions, I was able to leave Window$ a few years ago. It hasn't been without hardships however. And now I have reached another one of those hardships.
How does one get all the KDE info from one system to the other without being a sys admin, programmer or computer science major and if there is no such thing soemone please write somthing that will do this very important task. ?(

RE: HELP - KDE file transfer

Ok, no response.
So how about this ?(
Can I just copy my .KDE to the other OS running KDE and would that then transfer my settings and files ?(
What I am really intrested in are my Address book, mail and contacts.
I see import features but keep getting error message that can only import from local source, that has to be some setting in config but where ?(
Any ideas would be appreciated before I bomb the new install trying all kinds of wacky things ;(

RE: HELP - KDE file transfer

Yes, you can just backup ~/.kde and use it anytime, anywhere. It will include all your data, including address book, calendar (and maybe your e-mail as well, but maybe that stored in ~/Mail).
