No settings, again...

Hi there,

First of all, thank you and congratulations to all the KDE team for their fantastic job.

That being that, I tried, on my Mandriva 2006 i586, to remove the bundled KDE 3.4.2 and to replace it with a freshly compiled KDE 3.5.1, installed into /opt/kde3.5 instead of the classical /usr path.

Everything fine, except that the panel is empty, no preferences for konqueror and kcmshell doesn't return any recognized modules when inkoked with the option --list.

Of course, I ran and re-ran kbuildsycoca, set the KDEDIR and KDEDIRS variables, updated ld.so.conf and $PATH, re-installed kdelibs into /usr. etc... No way !

Another clue: when I run kcontrol from the konsole, I get "WARNING: No K menu group with X-KDE-BaseGroup=settings found !"

I'm not the only one to get such a problem, and we all need help. The cause of this problem doesn't seem that obvious.

Any idea ???

Thank you for you help...

Christophe
