[Kopete] webcam sending option missing

I just installed the latest version of SuSe 10.1. I am not the smartest person when it comes to linux yet, admittedly. I have been waiting anxiously for the day when I could use my old webcam with Linux to do webcam chat on Yahoo Messenger Service.

Well, I tried to understand and use the directions here and elsewhere, to get it to work:

http://wiki.kdenews.org/tiki-index.php?p…+Webcam+Support

However: I don't understand this line:

"Compile your kernel, compile the modules. Install both. Reboot if required. Load the appropriate modules."

How do I go about this, becuase I am wondering if that is my problem:

I can see the other person's webcam as the option appears in the menu to see their webcam, but the option for me to send my webcam does not appear anywhere. Why? I am running the latest KDE I believe, for SuSE 10.1: 3.5.1.x and the Kopete that came on it is 0.11.1. My system is an Athlon 64 based system using the x64 bit version of SuSE 10.1.

Can anyone help me? I am sorry that I am not too literate in Linux but there is so much to learn and so little time.

Thanks a million to anyone kind enough to help walk me through this!

Webcam sending over Yahoo! is implemented just in the 0.12 series of Kopete. You'll have to compile the beta2 or wait for the 0.12 final which will be released later this month.

OH so THAT'S what I have been dealing with! THANKS! Now, do you know where an rpm for the beta might be?

Edit, it's right here, duh! Got it, thanks.

OK, I installed the latest beta version, but, now, after rebooting from yesterday, my webcam is not working: it seems I borked my driver. I had tried a different driver and I think they might have conflicted or something. How could I get my system back to clean and re-install my driver? Sorry to be such a bother!

BTW, I get this:

./debug.sh
./debug.sh: line 2: /etc/init.d/klogd: No such file or directory
FATAL: Module usb not found.
FATAL: Module usb_uhci not found.
FATAL: Module usb_ohci not found.
FATAL: Module modprobe not found.

Ok, so it is working now, but the person on the other end of the net sees me in gray, while my window of what I am sending him appears in color. Also, it is a very washed out gray.
