Windows are not rising

Hi,

This is making me crazy :baby: : every time that I open a window that I have already open, the window does not come up front, but it blinks in the taskbar. To bring it up, I need to go to the taskbar and click on it.

I tried all possible combinations in Control Center / Windows Behavior. Is there anywhere else where I can fix this?

I'm running KDE 3.5.2 in CentOs 4.2.

I would really appreciate any help on this.
Thanks.

hmm, you weren't clear enough, do you wan't to bring in front an already opened window or do you start a new instance of a program?
if in the second case, you should check the focus prevention if it really bothers you.
Enjoy

Hi Alecs1,

Here is the thing: for example, if I open firefox full screen and while browsing a website I click on a pdf file, acroread pops up. OK, now suppose I minimize acroread and continue browsing. If I click on another pdf link, acroread seems to open the file but it opens a new instance that is only blinking in the taskbar. IT DOES NOT COME UP MAXIMIZED.

Now, I tried this with other programs, not only acroread (e.g. matlab, kopete, etc.)
It seems to be something general of KDE.

Last night I thought that it was my particular user configuration. So I opened a new account, logged in with KDE and same problem! Then, I did logout and login as the new user but this time with Gnome instead. I found that the windows work as they should. No matter when you open a file (or in general, open a window) the window comes up MAXIMAZED up front.

I hope this is clear enough for you to understand my problem. Thanks for your help!
