[kopete] Google Talk
I compiled the most recent version of kopete (svn). I enabled support for voice conversation via Google Talk. If I call someone else, who is using the original client provided by google, the voice chat works only partially. The other person may hear me, but I am not able to hear the other person. (Skype works fine, so it is probably no hardware problem.) It doesn't matter,if I initiate or if I accept the voice call.
I know that this feature is still experimental, but is there anyone who managed to get it work? Perhaps any hint what to change in order to make proper voice calls?
Thanks in advance.
RE: [kopete] Google Talk
This is still one of the aspects of the feature that hasn't been verified. We know Kopete <-> Kopete works and we know that Kopete <-> Psi works.
I tried several voice calls between Kopete <-> gtalk last night and only had limited success. Connections within my own home network worked correctly, and most of the time, attempting a connection to someone outside my network caused Kopete to freeze.
I'm not sure what, if anything you can change to make proper voice calls, since it'll probably require changes to Kopete's code for it to work properly.

I did some more voice calls, here are the results.
Calling from kopete to the original Google Talk client is working fine. Calling from the original Google Talk client to kopete works as well. And calling from kopete to kopete works properly.
But there is one problem. With the original Google Talk client, I may always hear what I am saying (using kopete). But with kopete I can not hear what I am saying (it doesn't matter if I am using kopete or the original Google Talk client), if I have amarok running while starting the voice call. I have to close amarok before doing the voice call, then everything works fine.
A solution might be that one could chose which sound device should be used for the voice call. I remember having read this in the kopete-devel mailing list.
By the way, the sound quality is superior, far better than with Skype!
