kde 3.5 media device problem (no auto-mount, ...)

Hi gurus!

Yesterday i was installed kde 3.5 in my gentoo desktop.

After install hal-0.4.7-r2 and dbus-0.50-r1 with hotplug-20040923-r1 all works fine...

at the first time I prove to put a cd (blank or with data disk) or USB device, kde presents a typical screen with the typical options: open cd in a new window (for cd device and usb device), don't do nothing, play songs with music player, ...

But today, when I power up my machine, and put the same CD disk don't work! no auto mount, no screen with first mentioned options screen... I take a look to "/var/log/dmesg" and "/var/log/everything/current" but isn't any strange event...

Where can find more information in my system? Anyone have any idea for this problem?

I start hald at boot time, the same for dbus and hotplug...

Thank's in advance!!! ;-)

So... hold on. Did you installed KDE 3.5 and then you installed hal, dbus and etc??? If I got this right then this probably means that your kdelibs and base were not built with hal and dbus support. Check your flags.

coco-loco, thank but isn't related.

mebrelith, yes I installed kde-3.5 before install hall and dbus, I think you probably part of reason, for this tomorrow I try to re-install 3.5 (five minutes ago I discover a "hal" flag i kdebase packet). But I have 1 discordance: why at first time media manager work's?

thank's for reply! I try to answer in 24 hours... ;-)

Most likely theres also an issue with some faulty double-mounting going around. Im not working with Gentoo these days so I don't know if they fixed it. Basically you had some instances where you'd have your CD mount in 2 places at the same time. And sometimes nowhere at all. Weird behaviour. The problem is that in only happens with certain versions of dbus + hal and Im not sure about it. You should check Gentoo's forums for info on this..

Solved!

Thank's for all guys!

The problem was i don't use the "hal" flag compiling kdebase-3.5.0 packet.
