problem with resolution in KDE

Hi all,
I am new user of Linux and KDE. I am using an distribuition slackware 10.1. my card video is radeon 7000 (radeon). and my monitor is AOC 15 ". the kde are configured for 800x600 85 HZ. but the menu K(start) are big he fill all screen. therefore, do how i am confiure he for he are with resolution good ?

You have to change the X server configuration.

See your distribution configuration tools how to do that or ask on a distribution forum or mailinglist or a general Linux mailinglist

Try Control Center - Peripherals - Display. Restar your session.
You have to be root to change it.
