Running KDE on framebuffer?

Hi all,
has anyone yet tried to run KDE without an X-server, directly on fb0? Is that possible? I think it should be possible using Qtembedded but couldn't find an appropriate solution.

I successfully built an LFS-system and now am wondering if there is a chance to avoid the memory-hog X and run KDE on a lean system, but I just found information about "some KDE-applications" running on embedded systems directly via the framebuffer.

Are there any parts (eg. libraries) of KDE requiring X? And if yes, is there a chance to avoid these dependencies?

Has anybody tried to run KDE via framebuffer and did not succeed? What problems encountered?

Any hints are welcome.
Thanx for your help
cheers
