MSN connection problem : again ?
Kopete worked fine with MSN after the 23 may update, but now, it asks me again for my password even if I know it is correct (and moreover, gaim is ok...).
So it makes me wonder : are we experiencing the same kind of problem we experienced in May ? Does anyone have the same problem ?
Yup, same problem here too.
Ahhh, this is a problem I've been having.
This problem has been solved a few days after, without the need to update kopete. Looks like Microsoft is trying to play with our nerves...
OK, maybe this is just me but...
Everyone keeps blaming MSN for mucking about with the login. But my Kopete was working fine until I upgraded from KDE 3.3 to KDE 3.4 (Kopete 0.10). In fact, my daughter (who I haven't upgraded yet, using 0.9.2) has never had a problem logging in to MSN, nor does she now. I'll also add that GAIM doesn't have login problems either.
To me this smacks of a big stinky Kopete bug. I'm afraid it's time to stop pointing fingers at MSN and start pointing fingers at Kopete.
Well the problem is that MSN protocol is not documented (at least officially). So I guess Kopete and GAIM has two distinct implementations of this protocol and do not access the MSN Network the same way (timeouts are different... and such). So they behave differently when Microsoft change something on their side.
But I agree Microsoft is not to blame for these changes. After all, they do what they want with their network. But they are to blame for not making MSN a public protocol, or not willing to participate in the elaboration of a standard IM protocol.
