Cant Keep KDE 3.4 resident !

Cant Keep KDE 3.4 resident !

Hi,

I loaded up the auto installation of KDE 3.4 for SuSE 9.1 for X86_64 from the KDE site recently, and followed the README that told me to add ~/kde3.4 into the KDE and QT directories as well as changing other parameters:

export PATH=~/kde3.4:$PATH
export KDEHOME=~/kde-test
export KDEDIR=~/kde3.4
export KDEDIRS=~/kde3.4
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/kde3.4/lib
export QTDIR=~/kde3.4

The first time I restarted X11 KDE 3.4 started OK, after that I was back on KDE 3.2 realising that my parameters had been reset to normal. So I created a /etc/profile.local file and put the commands in there.

This seems to have changed all but KDEDIR, KDEDIRS and QTDIR, which have all reverted again.

Does anyone have a clue what I am doing wrong here ? please...
