mozilla browser
hi all,
i wanted to install mozilla 1.7 browser so i downloaded the .tar.gz file. i found in a site that to uninstall a previous version of mozila i have to delete the folder, so i deleted the folder from /usr/lib/mozila. i installed as per the instruction. now i cannot open the mozilla browser from the kde menu->internet-> mozilla browser. when i click it does nothing... but when i run the command ./mozilla from /usr/lib/mozilla1.7.7 it works. but there is a problem for each browser i have to open a terminal. i tried the option ./mozilla & but it then goes to a profile menu. i selected a profile. and clicked ok then an error came "mozilla cannot use the profile "default" because it is in use please chose another profile or create a new one". i created a new profile, then a new browser came. but now when i agarin clicked the icon to open another browser then the same error came. how can i solve this problem??
plz help
Viji
Just create a new KMenu entry and let it execute /usr/lib/mozilla1.7.7/mozilla

hi,
ok i created a new kmenu entry as u said and executed, it opened the mozilla browser, but if i click the icon and try to open a second window it then gave the following error
"mozilla cannot use the profile "default" because it is in use please chose another profile or create a new one"
so i created another profile. and opened a new mozilla. again i clicked the icon to open a new window, the above error came...
i can use ctrl+n(new page) on the running browser to open any number of windows, but i cant open number of windows by clicking the mozilla icon,
plz help........

Uhm this is something Mozilla specific.
I dont't use mozilla so I can't help you with that.

I guess there is a commandline switch for mozilla which is usually use inside menus.
Actually I am wondering why you didn't simply install a distribution package for it, which should have a proper .desktop file for menus, even if the Mozilla project itself fails to provide one (they seem to dislike integrating with desktops on Unix/Linux)
Cheers,
