missing application menues

I've removed and reinstalled KDE so many times now. I've gotten rid of the .kde* settings and all that, but nothing seems to bring the menues back. Any ideas?

I guess you are using KDE3.2 or later, try .config or .local directories
I think those are the locations for the user local files according to the freedesktop.org menu specification
