I had one distro installed with KDE 3.2 installed (Debian based). I've changed to another distro, and now I'm using KDE 3.3.2. At this point I don't want to upgrade, since everything is functional, and the few problems I have are relatively small. When I finish this current project and have time to backup and try an upgrade, I will try 3.4 -- so please, if there is an answer other than upgrading, that is what I'm looking for. My current install is SimpleMEPIS 3.3, if that helps.
In all previous installs, when I am using Konsole, when I type a long command, or several commands on a line, when I reach the end of the line, the cursor would word wrap to the NEXT line and continue. Now, when I reach the end of the line, it word wraps to the SAME line, which can make a mess when I want to later edit a long line like that (if, say, I'm using a quick one line script).
There's also another similar problem: when I use ctrl-R to find a line in the history, when I get that line, and hit, say, the right arrow, as I'm about to edit the line, the longer "Search History" prompt is replaced with my shorter prompt. When this happens, the command line is shifted to the left, but all the characters at the end are not erased, so I have the command line I want, then, after it ends, leftover characters from when the command line was longer. The extra characters are not erased.
I logged on to the plain console (as in ctrl-alt-F1) to see if this happend there, and it doesn't. I can't find anything in konsolerc that I recognize as effecting these things. So what can I do to make this newer Konsole give me readable word wrap?
Thanks!
