Mouse not working

I'm not sure if this is a KDE or xorg issue sorry.
I just got KDE running for the first time and the mouse pointer sits in the top left corner of the screen. when i try moving the mouse up -down left-right the only thing it does is move right then automatically zips back to its corner. It's a simple compaq 2 button wheel mouse.
I have setup xorgconfig to auto for the mouse and i believe the path was /dev/psaux in the conf file when i read it with nano

Any idea why it would behave this way?
Is this infact a xorg issue?
Thanks

RE: Mouse not working

I had a similar experience once when I was trying out Slackware.

In my case, it was an X.org set-up problem. Took me a few tries to get my mouse properly configured, but finally got X.org to recognize my mouse.

RE: Mouse not working

turns out the xorg.config was in fact the culprit
I modified the xorg.conf protocol from "Microsoft" to "Auto" and it works great now

Thanks !
