Kubuntu 8.04 w/ KDE 4.0.4 will not run on VirtualBox 1.6.

I tried reporting this in KDE's bug report, but this is my first time doing so and I was SO confused. I don't know if my bug report even "went through". So I'm going to post it here, hoping that one of you know how to write a bug report. This is a serious bug!

Here's my report below, feel free to copy and paste it into a bug report.

This is my first bug report so please have mercy on my soul. I will try my best to explain. I have installed Kubuntu w/ KDE 4.0.3 installed as a virtual machine on Virtual Box 1.6. When I configure my Adept Manager to include Kububtu's "hardy-backports" "Unsupported Updates", my adept manager tells me to update Kubuntu. The update seems to work fine, but when I restart my virtual machine it won't work. First the log in screen pops up, it lets me enter my credentials, then the Kubuntu image loading screen pops up, then when it is about to show the desktop, it visually gets distorted and I'm unable to do anything. I have tried to update several times from KDE 4.0.3 with VirtualBox 1.6 and the same thing occurs.

I have noticed that there are a few files that seem to mess up kde in virtual machines.
I have seen them named 2 different things depending on the setup.
In ~/.kde/share/config
you could try moving dsiplayconfigrc or kdisplayrc to something else.
I have been having similar issues when updating my video and then having kde interprit the config in its on way fighting wtih x and causing the described behavior.
I have been able to reproduce this on vbox 1.5 and 1.6 in both KDE 3.5 and in4 in kubuntu and ubuntu with kubuntu desktop installed.
I have not been able to reproduce the problem with fedora. It seems to be using a different program to manipulate the display settings.
Also please remeber that any kubuntu backports arent guaranteed to work. If fact they are more likely to break something, thats why they are unsupported.
