KNetworkManager cannot find any network devices

Hi forum, [KDE]

I cannot get KNetworkManager to find my wired nor wireless network card. They are installed and works perfectly fine! Just not with old KNetty' which insist that ‘No network device found.’

How do I fix this?

RE: KNetworkManager cannot find any network devices

I have exactly the same problem. Is there a fix for this?

I know, the problem has been posted some time ago. Nevertheless, one possible reason for knetworkmanager's behaviour could be that you are missing some rights. You should be in a group called "netdev". Run knetworkmanger from commandline for error messages.

Hi,
I'm having the same issue. knetworkmanager does not find any network interface at all, if ran as user. If I run it with kdesu, everything works well. But as you may know its a pain in the *** to run it every time i boot in. No fix for this? Did someone write any HOWTO? I really need that.
I tried also to run knetworkmanager --no-fork on a shell but no error message was displayed. I tried to add my user to "netdev" group but still doesnt work.
Perhaps could be cause of the configuration of NetworkManager? I've searched for some help about that but I got no relevant results.
Help me!
Thanks in advance.

Don't know which distribution are you on, I'm on debian. Many users from other distribution haven't got any issues by running knetworkmanager as user. That's damn strange.
edit: I have just noticed, as you said in your 1st post, that you use debian too. :P
debian is way complex sometimes

Ah, okay. I wished you had a solution for me. :(
You could always manually edit the interfaces file and add your config in there. I personally prefer this method and am not really a fan of config thingys such as knetwork manager if I am familiar with the config files

kdesudo kate /etc/network/interfaces &

here are some examples of what you will need in there:

Hope this helps bro
