Your right. I've just had another look, and if you start KMix and go to settings you can select "Enable System Tray volume control", but watch out for the last setting "Disable automatic startup on login". Mina has everything selected except that last one, plus the radio buttons show "None" and "Horizontal"
The Powersave is another problem. Again it has a "Start on login" function in Settings on the General Settings tab under Miscellaneous. But, I have Suse 10.2 on two laptops, a Dell Inspiron 1300, and an Acer TravelMate 2304. Powersave has all the right functions and works properly on the Dell, but not on the Acer. The Dell shows when it is plugged in to AC and the charging level, and when unplugged it shows that and the battery level. The Acer only shows the small power plug icon and not the actual state. I did try FC6 on the Acer about 6 months ago and it had lots of other problems so I didn't get very far before going back to Suse. PowerSave relies on some other stuff to detect hardware settings using lm-sensors and I have had a lot of trouble with that. It seems to be very dependant on the hardware and BIOS.
