KDE 3.0 don´t start - Part2

Hello , I´m again !!!
I´m writing again , because I am with difficult to solve this problem :

When I typed " startx" only initialize a manager grafic called "TWM" .
I also tried typing " kde" command , but showed the messages below , after this , came back to prompt . :

xset root : unable to open DISPLAY "" ""

ksplash : Cannot connect to Xserver
kde init : aborting . $DISPLAY is not set
warning : conect ( ) failed : conection refused
ksmserver : cannot connect to Xserver
Error : Can´t open Display
warning : conect ( ) failed : conection refused
Error : Can´t contact kdeinit !

Last week I typed telling this problem this forum and one of member help me and suggest me to create a file
.xinitrc in " /root" and write the command "startkde " .
I hope I had solved this problem , but It appeared other problem :

When I type the command " startx " , it appears a gray background screen with " X " point .
After this appear a blue backgound screen with a small row , but stop this point .

I installed linux in my computer Pentium 133 , video card TGUI Trident 9680 ( with 1 mbytes ) and monitor CTX 1451 ( I agree that it´s old computer ! ) . I installed Linux Red Hat 7.3 and XFree86 4.4.0

I´m not idea to solve this problem !!!! I´m lost , because I am beginner in Linux !

Another common way to start KDE is from a display manager like kdm or gdm.

If you are in twm, the command startkde should also launch KDE.
