Konqueror not showing image previews.

Please help!

Konqueror v3.2.1 has not shown previews for images for months. I have had no luck browsing the web and forums. I have only seen a handful of peoples queries on the same subject - with no definate solution.

I have increased the preview file size limit to well above the size of any of the files.
I have hit refresh (F5) on the dir after changing settings. I have tried all of the settings within konqueror.
When hovering over a *.jpg file, no preview is hsown either and no sound is played for a *.mp3 file either.

I have recently renamed my .kde dir out of the way temporarily to get a fresh .kde dir but it made no difference.
I cannot find anything of definate relevance in /opt/kde.
I have not tried KDE 3.2.2 due to the ark issue and am waiting for the next release before upgrading.

As an extra bit of info, if I browse for a desktop background and select show image previews in the file selector, the images are shown.

Can anyone please give me some ideas please.

This does not seam the case of lojack but to have picture previews one as to have several options enabled. You both probably checked them all but I personally think it's easy to miss one.

As mentioned the file size must be big enough and previews for the file:// protocol must be allowed. Konqueror also as options under the "View" menu to enable/disable previews for certain file types.

I think that if all those options have the correct values you will see previews or will have found a bug.

The default kde installation should already have previews enabled so ... good luck

I'm using kde 3.2.2 on Gentoo and I have seen the same problem. The file previews in konqueror were fine when I first installed kde. Once I changed the setting that determines the size of the file to preview (from the default 1mb to 1.4 mb) I lost the previews. I too deleted the .kde files in my home directory and logged back in to try and fix the problem. Didn't help. I also changed the size back to 1mb. That didn't help either.
I'm looking for an answer as well.

I had excactly the same problem with konqueror 3.2.2. i also changed the maximum file size and all previews were gone. the problem was, that somehow the file protocol checkbox got unchecked. everything is fine now. maybe there is a bug when changing the file size?
