Moving Between Panes in Kate (from Keyboard)

I wasn't sure which topic to place this under , since Kate isn't part of KOffice, and it's not for the Internet, this seemed like the best topic.

I am using Kate to do a lot of programming (I should probably add I'm almost all self-taught and wouldn't have a clue what to do with a full IDE if I had one, so Kate is perfect for me). I have 3 panes open (file list, editor, and console). Is there any way to move between them from the keyboard, without having to click on a pane? Also, is there any way to manipulate the open file list from the keyboard (like jumping from one file to another, or possibly even changing the order of files for convenience)?

Thanks!

Hal

They seem not to exist, at least not in KDE 3.1.x.

So they are good candidates for bug reports at KDE Bugs. To help the developers, please make two bug reports, one for changing between the windows and one for moving in the file list.

Have a nice day!

And if you affect a shortcut to "Show File List" "Show Selector" and "Show Terminal", it should work ? (I didn't try).

Those are toggles. So you would have to press the key two times. It is not as easy as for real shortcuts.

Have a nice day!

That just changes the view in the file selector, it does not change between the different parts/views or whatever you could call them.

I never said it did.
If you look at the text I quoted, it referres to switching between open files.
And that can be done with the combinations I posted, can't it?

Yes, but you cannot move from one file to another with these keys.

That is one of the reasons why I reacted. The main wish of the first poster is still not there: there is no way to really navigate with keys in Kate.
