Kate rc

this is a kate question, and should probably go straight to the kate mailing list. i'm not a fan of the mailing list systems though (especially when there are such nice alternatives like this one!) and the kate mailing list mostly just has bugs on it, so i'd thought i'd try here first.

i love kate and use it all the time. most of the files i edit are on a remote server, and kate makes it very easy to ftp them to a tmp file. just to save my lazy *** 10 seconds of typing though, i thought it would be nice if i could configure kate to use my ~/.netrc file to authorize the ftp connection.
anyone know if this is possible, or how to configure it, or if there are alternative config files i might use?

This is actually not a Kate question but a KIO question.

Kate uses KDE's IO infrastructure calles KIO to handle remote and, I guess, also local files.

A FTP connection is handles by the FTP kio slave which is also used, for example, in Konqueror.

I am usually only using ftp when doing anonymous ftp and use ssh (fish io slave) when doing remote editing, using key based authentification.
